Two panels at Espacio Cultural de CajaCanarias will follow the official opening ceremony, starting a week full of concerts, which will begin tomorrow at the Paraninfo of the University of La Laguna, with the Youth Orchestra of the School of Music of Tacoronte
The V Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), sponsored by Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, Canary Islands Government and Santa Cruz and La Laguna City Councils will officially be opened at 16.30 at Espacio Cultural de CajaCanarias, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This will open a week full of concerts and parallel activities in different cultural venues in Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
After the opening, there will be two panels at CajaCanarias: in the first one, Robert Townson, record producer of Varèse Sarabande (most important record label specialized in film scores in the World), will give a speech on "Bernard Herrmann. A centenary celebration" at 17.00. At 18.00, the specialist and film critic Manuel Díaz Noda will give a conference titled "John Barry. Melodies are Forever".
The first of the concerts staged will be tomorrow, Tuesday, at Paraninfo of the University of La Laguna at 21.00. The Youth Orchestra of the School of Music of Tacoronte, conducted by Sandra Hernández González, will perform a repertoire based on contemporary blockbuster films, as, for example, "Back to the Future", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Schindler's List", "Rocky" or "The Incredibles". Zaida Almeida Cabrera will be the soloist violin and the orchestra will also have the voices of Javier Cebolla, Aarón Rodríguez, Jean Carlos Santelli, and of Almeida herself.
The Children´s Choir of Adeje and Granadilla Schools of Music will also perform at the concert, conducted by Natalia Díaz Llarena and Antonio Jesús Quijada Pestano, respectively, as well as the Polyphonic Choir of Tacoronte, conducted by Aránzazu Arteaga Rodríguez. The participation of the students of singing from the School of Music of Tacoronte, conducted by Ángeles Cabrera Siverio, will complete the artists participating in the concert.
On the other hand, today at 11.00 will be screened "The Day the Earth Stood Still" for the season the Festival has programmed focused on Bernard Herrmann at Espacio Cultural de CajaCanarias. At 19.30 in Tenerife, Espacio de las Artes (TEA), there will be a FIMUCITÉ retrospective, with the screenings of a selected extracts of the concerts given by Don Davis, Sean Callery or Mychael Danna, at FIMUCITÉ 1, and the "Tribute to 2001 / In session", from the Closing Concert of FIMUCITÉ 2, conducted by Joel McNeely and the conductor and festival director, Diego Navarro.
