FIMUCITÉ concludes its fourth edition
with the resounding success of the two symphonic concerts

The FIMUCITÉ Awards were presented on Saturday 10 to the late Alex North and to John Williams for his lifetime achievements
The fourth edition of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival, sponsored by Cabildo Insular, The Canary Islands Government and Santa Cruz and La Laguna City Councils, concluded with a remarkable closing concert and a great standing ovation from the audience in the Tenerife Auditorium.
The closing concert, which was an absolute success, honoured two of the greatest film composers: the late Alex North, who received a posthumous FIMUCITÉ Award, and John Williams, for his lifetime achievements. The FIMUCITÉ Green Award, an elegant sculpture by the Canary artist Eugenio Correa went to Bruno Coulais and was presented by Joao de Lima, the Director of The Climate Project Spain for his work towards sustainability and preservation of the planet through music and film.
On Friday 9, the audience enjoyed a concert with pieces by Coulais and Bear McCreary, who conducted the Symphony Orchestra in the World Première of the acclaimed ‘Battlestar Galactica’. While Saturday became an evening full of magnificent and unforgettable scores from legendary films like: ‘Viva Zapata’, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ or ‘Spartacus’, by North, or ‘Indiana Jones’, ‘Jaws’, ‘Schlinder’s List’, ‘Superman’ and ‘Star Wars’ among other compositions by Williams.
The event was hosted by Ana Molowny, Head Public Relations, and by Reporter Andrés Brito. The concerts were conducted by Composer and Festival Director Diego Navarro, and the audience was able to enjoy The Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife, The Tenerife Film Choir, as well as the voices of the Children’s Choir from the Adeje and Granadilla Schools of Music.
This Closing Concert was also filled with other surprises. From Los Angeles, John Williams sent a message to the audience and showed his satisfaction for the concert and the Award. Also, Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers visited the orchestra while playing the Empire theme.
On behalf of the FIMUCITÈ organisation, Diego Navarro thanked the audience’s participation and the support from the different institutions, wishing farewell until next year for the 5th edition.
