2001 LA MÚSICA DEL FUTURO

Included in the different activities that Fimucité offers, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the opening of “2001. A Space Odyssey”, the organization wanted to pay tribute, not only to this essential title of the history of cinema, but also to the composer Alex North, who was originally hired by Stanley Kubrick, although his work was never listened together with the images.

Along with the tribute that will be offered to North’s score in the closing concert of the festival, Fimucité wanted the musical aspect of the film to be the central subject of its first publishing adventure, which will be released by Alberto Santos Editor. Thanks to the participation of different specialists, the film has been situated in the suitable cinematographic, literary and even scientist context for analyzing both musical alternatives from the point of view of their relevance in the later career of their creators.

ALIEN LA SINFONÍA BIOMECÁNICA

IMG

There are some creative choices that become key when it comes to turn a good movie into a masterpiece. When Ridley Scott, seduced by H.R. Giger's biomechanical art, hired him to create the space monster, he drastically redefined the way humankind faced the space conquest and saw alien civilization in the film industry.

Therefore, music for these films should underline the drama of our encounter with aliens, life or death situations with evolving and changing melodies.

Alien, The Biomechanical Symphony, gathers various chapters inspired in Ridley Scott's Alien 30th anniversary. Along the book you will read the different adventures and challenges faced by all composers in charge of giving the most frightening creature in the universe its identity and character. Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Elliot Goldenthal, John Frizzell and Brian Tyler have greatly helped creating the unique personality of the cult saga.

Calamar Editions and Fimucité have edited this book with the collaboration of Filmoteca Canaria.
