The Director of Filmoteca Canaria declares that the work FIMUCITÉ publishes this year is the first one exploring the music of the famous tetralogy in Spain.

María Calimano, Director of Filmoteca Canaria, has emphasized the pioneering nature of the book where different experts analyze the music of the Alien universe, main leitmotif of FIMUCITÉ 3, sponsored by Cabildo Insular de Tenerife. According to Calimano, the work, which will be presented on July 20th in TEA (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes) “is the first one that deepens in the musical sections of the Alien tetralogy”.

The experts Pedro J. Mérida, Manuel Díaz, David Fuentefría and Acaimo González are the authors of “Alien, The Biomechanical Symphony” with a prolog written by the Festival Director, Diego Navarro. According to Calimano, this book, published by Calamar Ediciones, corroborates “the new cooperation between the Festival and Filmoteca”. The main responsible of the Canary Islands film treasures stated that Filmoteca has also joined the Jerry Goldsmith Tribute with a season of some of the most important films in the career of this composer.

Maria Calimano also said that the book is illustrated with a great amount of black and white and color still pictures “that show a wide selection of posters and images of the four films of the saga and the authors of their scores”.

“2009 is the 30th Anniversary of Ridley Scott’s “Alien” première. A lot has been written about the tetralogy started with this film, but now we are presenting a publication based on their scores and their composers, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Elliot Goldenthal and John Frizzell”, explains Calimano. She concluded saying: “This book also includes testimonies from some of these composers and reveals the tough confrontations occurred sometimes between composers and directors.”

FIMUCITÉ 3 has been possible thanks to the sponsorship of Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, Canary Islands Government and Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna City Councils, as well as the cooperation of a great number of public and private entities.
