CLINT MANSELL

Born in Coventry, Great Britain, January 7th 1963. Musician and composer nominated for the Golden Globe Awards, was the leader and guitar player of the British band Pop Will Eat Itself. Mansell started writting music for films when his friend and director Darren Arnofsky asked him to do his first movie.
His soundtrack attracted many electronic music fans who also enjoyed other works such as Autechre, Aphex Twin, Orbital and Roni Size.
After his work for π, Mansell wrote Arnofsky’s following movie, Requiem for a Dream. It soon became a cult success.
The "Lord of the Rings" trailer, The Two Towers used a remixed version of the “Lux Aeterna” composition recorded with a full orchestra and choir. This piece called “Requiem for a Tower” was conceived just for the trailer (it is on Requiem for a Dream, but not in the Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers) and the orchestration was arranged by Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen and Veigar Margeirsson. In October 2006, the piece was included in the iTunes album Corner Stone Cues because of the fans great demand. This piece has had a great presence in Internet, since it has often been used by fans videos and trailers.
The Requiem for a Dream soundtrack became very popular after the release of the remixed disc with new remixed pieces by Paul Oakenfold, Josh Wink, Jagz Kooner and Delerium among others. The “Requiem for a Tower” track was not included in this album.
“Lux Aeterna” has become extremely popular, both the original and the remixed versions, they were often used in commercials and trailers including Zathura and the Da Vinci Code. It was used in the Allied Irish Bank advertising campaign, The Ryder Cup 2006 promotion and the album Kings of Crunk with Lil’ Jon and the East Side Boyz.
Mansell’s hits include the main theme of "The Hole", the music of the pilot episode for the show CSI: NY, and Aronofsky’s last works: "The Fountain"(nominated for the 64th annual Golden Globe Awards) and the Wrestler.
