The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), which will celebrate its seventeenth edition between June 30 and July 15 with an intensive program dedicated to the world of comics and its protagonists, heroes and villains, who have greatly inspired work in every media throughout history, will offer the exhibition 'Pacheco & Azpiri: In Memory of Two Greats' among its parallel activities.

Organized by Fundación Cine+Cómics, the Cátedra Moebius de la Universidad de La Laguna, Asociación Unicornio, the Semana Internacional del Cine Fantástico de la Costa del Sol and FIMUCITÉ, the exhibition can be visited in the art room of Los Lavaderos, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, from June 30 to July 23. However, the official opening will take place on Tuesday, July 4, at 12:00 p.m., with the presence of the mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, the curator of the exhibition, Julio Peces, and those responsible for FIMUCITÉ and the Fundación Cine + Comics respectively.

The exhibition is divided into two different spaces, dedicated to each of the authors as a tribute and memory of their legacies, after the passing of Azpiri in 2017 and that of Pacheco last November.

Carlos Pacheco's space will be divided into two areas. The first will be dedicated to the Arrowsmith saga, the most personal work of the cartoonist from Cádiz, created alongside screenwriter Kurt Busiek. The first installment was released in 2002 and, in 2022, as a posthumous work, the second installment followed suit. There will be a selection of drawings in both color and black and white, with high quality reproductions of the original artwork.

The second part will focus on Pacheco's work at Marvel and DC, the publishers in which he built his reputation and thanks to which he gained worldwide fame. Specifically, it will have 40 panels of Pacheco's work donated by inker Jesús Merino, a regular collaborator of the cartoonist, through the mediation of Ficzone Granada and the Festival de Cómic Europeo de Úbeda. This space will be complemented by a selection of 8 drawings in homage to Pacheco, created by eight authors.

On the other hand, the Azpiri space will have drawings from the book Nuestro Querido Azpiri, published in 2019 within the 20th edition of the Semana Internacional de Cine Fantástico de la Costa del Sol, with high-quality reproductions of originals. Likewise, there will also be a selection of drawings donated from the collection of renowned comics critic Eduardo Serradilla, the head of international projects at the Fundación Cine+Cómics. There are 25 high-quality reproductions of drawings that deal with topics such as superheroes, the "Lorna" series or the covers that Azpiri drew for computer games like MSX or Spectrum.

It should be noted that Azpiri was the author of the official poster for the 3rd edition of Fimucité, held in 2009. The illustration was dedicated to the Alien film saga, the main theme of that edition.
